Although the torrential downpours we’re currently battling is a far cry from my definition of ‘summer’, we are in June and with that comes the occasional treat of a sunny spell. My combination skin goes into meltdown as soon as the sun gets her hat on and I do much of the damage control as part of my evening routine – here comes round five of my Skincare For The Shopping List series!
I picked up the Original Source Body Butter on a whim in Boots when it was on offer for a few pounds. I love almond and vanilla scents and when you bung those two together, my nose is a happy bunny. This is a really good post-shower moisturiser, thick and ultra nourishing, leaving you super soft and smelling fainty like cake. I’m not so sure about its ‘fast absorbing’ boast though – this definitely isn’t one to slather on if you need to put clothes on straight away.
With sun comes swimwear and with swimwear comes the tackling of the lady garden. It’s an ongoing battle all year round but when you’re considerably less dressed than usual, aftercare is especially important. I get waxed every 4-5 weeks and I find Tend Skin’s Ingrowing Hair Solution helps keep red bumps at bay, especially in the heat. Fun fact – I wrote one of my first ever blog posts on this and I still stick by every word. You can read a full review here.
If we return conversation back up north, you can’t go wrong with a bit of vitamin C in your skincare routine and I’ve been loving the Super Facialist Vitamin C Glow Boost Serum. What a product! Already on my third tube of the beauty, I can vouch that this is every ounce the glow boosting weapon of choice. Hydrating and creating a noticeably dewy appearance to my skin after just a week of use, I couldn’t recommend it enough.
With holy grail serums come moisturisers, something I’m not particularly loyal to. I find serum does most of the leg work in my skincare routine and I tend to drift between different moisturiser offerings. I’ve been giving L’Oreal’s Wrinkle Decrease Night Cream a whirl and I’m a fan. Although made for older skin, I think it’s never too early to rub a little collagen into your face and this is filled with the stuff. Richer and thicker than moisturisers I’ve used in the past, this is an instant hydrating boost and is perfect for those with dry skin.
Have you tried any of my recommendations? What should I try out next?
