Every so often something pops up in your inbox and it’s not PPI Rewards saying you’re owed thousands of pounds (anyone else?) When Spa London asked me to come and sample their newest treatment, I jumped at the chance because spa, duh.
I arrived early at the York Hall location to wind down after a long day at work. I had a good steam and sauna session before my treatment and was impressed by the size of the space.
There were multiple steam rooms and saunas, a plunge pool and bucket shower among other facilities set within the one of London’s oldest Turkish baths – kinda cool.
My treatment was called La Sultane de Saba Ayuvedic Journey. It started with a change into some seriously sexy paper knickers in a candle lit room (I have a photo but y’know, the combo is just too arousing for the internet) and an all over body scrub with crystals that had a strangely relaxing spicy aroma. Nothing like a good scrub to sort out that neglected winter skin, aye?
After showering off the scrub, I was drizzled in oils like a Christmas turkey. Then, a combination of hand and herb-infused compresses massaged my whole body, the latter gently releasing heat on my pressure points. It was weirdly relaxing, given these compresses just looked like giant mushrooms. I got to keep them to put in the bath at home and I was going to add a photo, but they were mouldy two days later… Oops.
The whole experience was relaxing, enjoyable and made even better by the lovely staff. Perfect if you’re (like me) still looking for Christmas gift inspiration. Now all a spa needs to invent is something to eliminate the whole getting-on-the-tube-after-a-massage experience…
What spa treatment would you like to receive this Christmas?
