From top: Patina, Sable and satin lipstick in Brave |
This is potentially the tiniest haul ever but you know what they say, size doesn’t matter, it’s what you do with it that counts! Wink.
I feel like nearly every beauty lover’s first high-end love was Mac, stocking up on lipsticks and filling up the eyeshadow palettes with pennies from a weekend job. This was never me though – I was a Clinique kinda gal (fully enabled with the help of the ol’ Boots points). Including this newest addition, I actually only have three Mac lipsticks. I’m not sure if it’s because there’s just so much and it’s a little daunting or the fact that the ratio of good to bad experiences I’ve had with Mac customer service FAR outweigh on the negative side, but it’s a bandwagon I have never ridden.
Anyhoo, completely going back on everything I just said, I recently picked up a couple of bits that I’ve seen circulating on the blogging/YouTube circuit for a long time and have been coveting. Let’s start with the lippy – satin finish in the shade Brave. I’ve been in the market for a nude with just a bit more of an oomph to brighten a eyeliner-free face and be wearable for day and night. The colour pops when added with a rosy cheek and I know this will be my go-to shade in the summer months.
When I said I find the selection in Mac a little daunting, eyeshadows certainly fit into this category. There are just so many that it’s hard to know where to start and I always get overwhelmed. I have seen the shade Patina used in multiple tutorials and I’ve worn it pretty much every day since purchasing. It’s a quick and easy one swipe shade – a warm taupe with a hint of gold.
I also picked up the shade Sable, which has browny/reddish/bronze tones and is like my perfect speedy smokey eye – not too severe but adds plenty of definition. These shades paired together are really complimentary too, especially on brown eyes!
