My blogging motivation has been at an all time low this month, mostly due to a couple of work trips abroad for conferences and generally a much busier than usual lifestyle – pleeeeease forgive me?! I thought the best way to show my everlasting love to you beautiful readers is to post one of everyone’s favourites – a Sephora haul!
During my recent jaunt to Barcelona, which you can read more about here, I stopped by at the biggest branch of Sephora I had ever visited and things got carried away to say the least. I haven’t used everything I bought yet (as there’s just so much) but I thought I would give you my thoughts on the products I have and no doubt the others will make an appearance on here at some point! A full list of what I bought, along with links, will be at the bottom of this post.
I am a huge fan of clay based masks. My combination skin and consequential sexy oily T-zone loves Sephora’s masks as they seem to absorb all the nasty shine and leave my skin feeling clean and smooth. I’ve used the pore clarifying masks before and they are so convenient for travelling in the sachet format – the pot is the full sized version!
Again, for staying overnight and short trips, skincare can be a pain to pack as everything seems to come in bulky bottles. I picked up this little cleansing water and it does a great job at removing make up quickly, even stubborn mascara and liner.
I’ve been dabbling with waterproof liners and mascara recently and this waterproof make up remover is brilliant. I tested it in store by drawing the Marc Jacobs waterproof liner (see below) on the back of my hand, rubbing it and seeing it wouldn’t budge or even smudge and then this on a cotton pad took it off immediately. It’s one of those oil-separating-in-the-bottle jobbies, so you shake it up before squeezing a little on a pad.
I have fell in love with this waterproof Marc Jacobs liner in a big way. The browny bronzey tone is flattering with my dark eyes and I like to use it on my upper lash line to give more definition. It is waxy in consistency, screws up from the bottom (extra points for not needing a sharpener) and it lasts all day long. Love.
I also picked up this chubby Sephora eye cream – I like this sort of product in pencil format as it’s quicker and easy to chuck in your make up bag on the go. This taupe/bronze/gold shade is beautiful, but I have fairly oily eyelids and found that the longevity of this wasn’t really up to scratch. I would use it for a night out or a dinner, but not really for all day.
Everyone in the blogging world seems to rave about Make Up For Ever and I’ve been desperate to get my grubby mitts on their HD Foundation for ages. The artists at the Make Up For Ever counter were so helpful and made me feel really comfortable and at ease, unlike many department stores in London where I often feel rushed and a bit of a burden. I like this foundation for slightly greasier days as, with a dusting of powder on the ol’ dreaded T-Zone, this sets nicely and almost makes my skin seems blurred in photos. I wouldn’t recommend it for drier skin types as it can tend to cling to these patches.
Usually my rule when beauty shopping abroad is not to buy products I can buy at home, but the exchange rate at the time was good enough to make a couple of purchases a no brainer. Urban Decay’s Perversion mascara has popped up a fair few times on my Bloglovin’ feed. The brush is thicker than what I would usually go for and that is transferred to its lash power. I like this alongside a quick use of another mascara like Benefit’s Rollerlash to comb through any stray clumps, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase.
Other blogger-enabled purchases included the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector (lovely shade but a little too sticky for my liking – I would go for the balm version instead) and Sephora’s Formula X polishes, which are long lasting and come in so many shades it was hard to choose!
