I so nearly called this post ‘When The Lack Of Natural Light In The UK Makes You Want To Throw Your Camera’ but it wasn’t very catchy. I thought I would do a fresh faced make up look using rose-toned products for this lovey dovey-filled weekend, with a few new launch first impressions thrown in. Don’t I spoil you?
Revlon Photo Ready Airbrush Effect Makeup (in the shade 001 Ivory)
This isn’t a new launch per se, but the formula of the foundation claims to be ‘new and improved’ so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m really impressed with this – it provides medium, even coverage which makes your skin appear almost blurred. At the introductory price of £9.99 at Boots, this is a steal! As a side note, the sturdy packaging pleases me (simple things).
Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara
This new launch has been shoved in the face of anyone who’s visited a Boots or Superdrug recently. I gave in to the volume of advertising and picked one up for the introductory price of £5.99. The wand is plastic and has alternate rows of shorter and longer combs. I was impressed with its lengthening power, is clump free and produces a nice long lasting curl, although doesn’t do much in terms of thickening.
My biggest criticism is the removal stage – it’s SO hard to get off and I really had to rub to get even a little bit off – instead of wiping away it sort of flaked off. I shall try with different removers and report back.
Bourjois Colorband 2-in-1 Eyeshadow and Liner
I bought these on a whim because I love products in stick form – so handy and easy to throw in your make up bag. I opted for the shades 04 Rose Fauviste (an icy pink) and 06 Gris Graffiti (a silvery grey). There is an element of shimmer to these but don’t let this put you off because they are really stunning shades.
I put the pink all over the lid, blending it in with my ring finger, and use a smudge of grey in the crease. Personally I wouldn’t use these as a liner as they are too bulky. I like the colour pay off but for oilier lids I think they would work best for an evening look as opposed to all day, as it creased after a few hours. Drier lids though – these are your babies.
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush (in the shade 10 Nude Mauve)
Annoyingly, Boots don’t seem to show the different shades online but trust me, these are all stunning. They have been coined by many as the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush dupe due to their baked, swirly appearance and it is an obvious comparison. The colour pay off of these are amazing and so beautiful on the cheeks, like a natural and glowing flush. I will be investing in more of these!
Other products used in this look:
Anastasia Brow Wiz, in the shade soft brown
Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm, in the shade super strawberry
L’Oreal True Match Powder, in the shade D1/W1 golden ivory
