I love a good smokey eye as much as the next gal but every so often an event will pop up in our calendar which calls for something a bit different. Varying colours in palettes have been popping up for a while now, perhaps most notably from Urban Decay, but when it’s not a look I reach for on a day to day basis I don’t really want to be spending nearly £40 for a palette.
In times like these, we run to our comfort blanket, the place we know always has our back through thick and thin – the drugstore. ‘Drugstore’ is such an American term but how else can we categorise Boots and Superdrug? Cosmetics store? Chemist? Answers on a postcard plz.
In this instance I didn’t even have to hunt this now down myself – my lovely colleague at work treated me to this wonder as my not-so Secret Santa! The Sleek i-Divine Storm palette consists of twelve mineral based eyeshadows, three mattes and nine shimmers. I know I know, shimmer *scream* but hold your horses my beauty bumpkins.
When it comes to the palette game we are often led to believe that high end is where it’s at but in this instance, I beg to differ. These shadows are creamy and buildable, with impressive lasting power and are really pigmented.
The matte shades work well as a base colour or just on their own for every day (anyone else get a bit lacklustre with the face come Thursday morning?) I’ll probably never touch the matte black but every other shade I’m keen to have a good go with. Annoyingly they don’t have individual shade names but I have especially been loving the first on the second row and pretty much all of the first row really, which are really just a step up from our beloved smokey eye I mentioned at the very beginning. What are you waiting for?
What is your favourite drugstore palette?
